Leather Upholstery
Leather is a durable upholstery and proper care will help maintain its beauty. General information and maintenance tips follow.
General Information
- Leathers are sensitive to the sun and will fade over time. Avoid exposure to sunlight and use window treatments.
- Don't place leather upholstery too close to heat or air conditioner vents, windows, or exterior doors since extreme temperature
variations can damage leather.
- Blot spills on leather upholstery immediately with a soft, clean, dry, absorbent cloth.
- Don't use soap, saddle soap, oil, all purpose cleaner, or unapproved solvents to clean your leather upholstery.
- Be careful with sharp objects (keys, toys, etc). They can tear the surface of leather.
Leather Maintenance Tips
- Dust leather upholstery weekly using a soft, clean cloth that is slightly dampened with water. Please don't use furniture polish
on leather.
- Blot spills immediately with a soft, clean, absorbent dry cloth.
- If a spill is water based, spot clean using a leather cleaner (following product directions). Clean the entire piece gently. Then
gently dry with a soft, clean cloth. Do not rub.
- If a spill is oil based, blot with a dry cloth, allowing the stain to dissipate into the leather. Do not rub.
- To help protect your leather upholstery from soil, stains, and cracking, you should consider applying a leather conditioner to
your furniture. If the leather upholstery isn't new, it should be cleaned before a conditioner is applied.
